Mechanics
Material choices documented
Alternatives and reasoning collected per article, in the archive instead of in email threads.
How you work it in Colleag
- 1
Ask the colleague to compile the material choice: the alternatives and the reasoning.
- 2
The colleague reads specs, earlier decisions and supplier material.
- 3
Review the summary and add what only you know.
- 4
Approve as a document; next time the question comes, the answer remains.
A worked example
“Why did we choose this polymer for the enclosure, and what were the alternatives?”
The decision with its reasoning, the alternatives considered and what separated them, from your documents. If no documented reasoning exists the colleague says so, and helps you write it now instead of never.

The material
- Material specifications and datasheets
- Earlier decisions and notes in the archive
- Supplier material
You approve
Everything the colleague produces is a proposal with sources. Nothing is published, sent or saved to the archive without a human approving it, and every figure traces to its material.
